Landscape and structural plan for Vejle Ådal
New promenade and flooding resilience plan.
Status: 2023-Ongoing
Vejle is located on a small peak in the great tunnel valley, between the river inlet and its sequestering valley. The shape of the Ice Age's movements and erosion make up the drama of the landscape as part of the town's DNA, just like the relationship to the water. The water side, which historically formed the back side, characterized by production, is now the attraction.
The Ådal Promenade connects Vejle with its river inlet and valley, using the local landscape as a centerpiece. Unfortunately, the great landscape qualities also contain major flooding problems. Problems such as a new promenade in the river valley have the potential to be solved. By creating links with the promenade, the connection can act as climate protection for Vejle's low-lying buildings at the same time as it connects to the town's new quarter, Ny Rosborg.
The Ådal promenade is both climate protection and staging of the existing qualities. A new connection in everyday life, through the surrounding nature of the river valley or as a break and destination at the edge of the water.
